Job Overview: The Programme Assistant position at UN Women involves providing administrative, coordination, and operational support for the implementation of programs in Eastern Ukraine, specifically in the target oblasts. The role is crucial for ensuring that the strategic goals outlined in the UN Women Ukraine Country Office's Strategic Note for 2025–2029 are met. The Programme Assistant will support various aspects of program implementation, including monitoring, reporting, and documentation processes. This position requires effective communication and partnership-building with various stakeholders, including government counterparts, civil society organizations, and other UN agencies. The Programme Assistant will also play a key role in supporting the Gender in Humanitarian Action (GiHA) Working Groups, ensuring that activities are properly implemented and documented. The position demands a proactive approach to collecting and organizing data, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in the preparation of reports and communication materials. Overall, the Programme Assistant will contribute significantly to the operational success of UN Women's initiatives in the region, focusing on gender equality and women's empowerment amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the implementation of programs and portfolios by providing administrative and operational assistance, maintaining accurate records, and drafting narrative progress reports.
Facilitating coordination with partners and stakeholders by organizing meetings, maintaining communication, and supporting the functionality of the GiHA Working Groups.
Assisting in monitoring, reporting, and documentation by collecting and organizing data, tracking activity implementation, and reviewing reports for compliance.
Providing administrative support to the Dnipro Sub-Office staff, including logistical arrangements for meetings and activities, and maintaining program-related documentation.
Supporting knowledge management and communication efforts by documenting lessons learned, organizing advocacy events, and contributing to the creation of communication materials. The role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Programme Assistant position should possess strong administrative and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software is essential. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders. A strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are also important. Languages: Fluency in Ukrainian and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Russian is an asset and may be beneficial for communication with various stakeholders in the region. Candidates should possess strong writing and speaking skills in the required languages to effectively contribute to reporting and communication efforts.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the selected candidate will be responsible for organizing their own accommodation. The contract is full-time and lasts for the duration indicated in the vacancy, with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) is USD 1690, which is intended to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. Additional benefits include a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 350, medical and life insurance coverage, and leave entitlements, including annual leave, learning leave, and sick leave. The position does not guarantee renewal of the assignment, and the candidate should be prepared for the challenges of working in a complex humanitarian environment.
