Job Overview:
The logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager position at Humanity & Inclusion is a critical role that involves overseeing the efficient management of logistics resources within the area of intervention in Syria. Reporting to the regional logistics manager, the Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring that logistics operations align with HI's standards and contribute to the organization's mission. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The Logistics Manager will play a key role in the rollout and implementation of HI's logistics standards, which aim to enhance the positioning of logistics within the organization and promote professional development. This position is based in Damascus and is part of a humanitarian program that addresses the ongoing needs of the Syrian population, particularly in the context of recovery and rehabilitation following years of conflict. The Logistics Manager will be expected to lead a team, manage logistics operations, and contribute to the strategic direction of logistics within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Management: Acting as a role model for HI's values, the manager will coach and guide their team, translating organizational strategy into operational objectives. They will organize the operational management of their team, structure work processes, and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Logistics Strategy: The manager will define the logistics section of the Operational Strategy (StratOp) and direct its action plan, ensuring compliance with HI's institutional policies and optimizing resources.
  • Risk Management: The manager will produce and update risk maps for their area of responsibility and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Compliance and Accountability: Ensuring adherence to HI standards and internal rules, the manager will supervise internal controls and guarantee compliance with donor regulations.
  • Operational Implementation: The manager will conduct contextual analyses, resource planning, and procurement planning to ensure effective logistics operations.
  • Professional Development: The manager will facilitate the development of the logistics profession within their program and contribute to the organization's global logistics community, identifying training needs and developing local talent.
  • Emergency Preparedness: The manager will lead emergency preparedness actions and reorganize team priorities in response to humanitarian needs during emergencies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Logistics Manager position must possess a range of qualifications, including: - Proven experience of at least 5 years in sectors such as procurement, supplies, management of premises, fleet management, or information and communication systems. - A minimum of 3 years of experience in a coordination role, demonstrating leadership capabilities. - Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with a proven ability to train and manage logistics teams effectively. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. - Ability to manage stress and work effectively under pressure, with strong conflict resolution skills. - Proficiency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Arabic is considered a strong asset.

Educational Background:

Additional Notes:
The Logistics Manager position is offered as a 12-month international contract, starting in April, based in Damascus. The contract includes social coverage tailored to the individual's situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary for this position starts at 2750 € gross per month, depending on experience, along with a per diem of 545 € net per month and a hardship allowance of 250 € net per month. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year, with rest and recuperation (R&R) opportunities provided every three months. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively arranged by HI. For candidates residing in the country, a local compensation package will be offered.
