Job Overview: This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive experience within the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. Interns will work closely with staff members, gaining insights into the UN's operations and contributing to meaningful projects that enhance the organization's outreach efforts. The role is particularly focused on supporting the Civil Society Unit, the Creative Community Outreach Initiative, and the Messenger of Peace Programme, which collectively aim to foster partnerships and collaborations with the entertainment industry and other sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Outreach Division's objectives. These include assisting with the screening and reviewing of registration applications for High-Level Events, providing support for projects with external partners from the entertainment and sports industries, and monitoring social media activities related to civil society and celebrity influencers. Interns will also help in planning and organizing events at UN Headquarters, drafting and editing communications materials, and creating original content for the team's websites. The role requires a proactive approach to collaboration and communication, ensuring that the UN's messages are effectively conveyed to diverse audiences.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet specific educational requirements, including enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. While professional work experience is not mandatory, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is essential. Additionally, the ability to draft communications and engage with social media platforms is highly desirable, as these skills will be utilized in various tasks throughout the internship.
