Job Overview: The Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting FAO Jordan's mission to strengthen partnerships and mobilize resources for its development and emergency interventions. This position is essential as national priorities evolve in response to climate change, economic challenges, and regional crises. The specialist will be responsible for identifying and cultivating partnerships, aligning programmatic priorities with donor interests, preparing high-quality funding proposals, and enhancing the visibility of FAO as a trusted technical partner in Jordan. The role requires a strategic approach to engage with various stakeholders, including donors, government institutions, UN agencies, financial institutions, and civil society, to ensure that FAO's initiatives are well-supported and aligned with the needs of the community.
Duties and Responsibilities: The specialist will undertake a variety of tasks, including developing and implementing a resource mobilization strategy that aligns with FAO's priorities and global donor trends. This involves identifying and mapping potential donors and development partners, preparing quality funding proposals and partnership documents, and supporting project documentation and coordination. The specialist will facilitate partner engagement and visibility by coordinating donor meetings, field visits, and engagement events, as well as contributing to the preparation of visibility materials and donor communications. Accurate record-keeping and reporting are essential, as the specialist will maintain updated records of donor engagements, proposal pipelines, and funding commitments. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to knowledge sharing and collaboration by participating in relevant networks and forums, support capacity development initiatives for FAO staff and partners, and ensure that partnership initiatives incorporate cross-cutting priorities such as gender equality and climate-smart agriculture. Coordination with FAO regional and headquarters offices will also be part of the role, along with performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of resource mobilization and partnership development, with proven experience in fundraising and proposal writing. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing circumstances is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the mission of FAO and the principles of sustainable development, as well as a respect for diversity and inclusion in their work.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, agriculture, or a related discipline is required. A master's degree in a relevant field is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant professional experience in resource mobilization, partnership development, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in the context of development and humanitarian assistance is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and its operations, particularly in the context of food security and agriculture, will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory, as both languages are essential for effective communication with stakeholders in Jordan. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the region or the donor community.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Amman, Jordan. The selected candidate will receive a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of JOD 1145.08, along with annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms. The living conditions in Amman are generally favorable, with a peaceful environment, good infrastructure, and a variety of amenities. However, the candidate will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
