Job Overview:
The UNV Specialist for SSTC for Children will play a crucial role in providing high-quality technical and programmatic support to the UNICEF India Country Office, Government ministries, and partner states. This position is designed to institutionalize and upscale South-South Cooperation (SSC) as a driver for improved child outcomes, in line with UNICEF's global SSTC Strategy and the Government of India's development diplomacy priorities. The specialist will facilitate program development, implementation, knowledge management, and reporting, ensuring that UNICEF's efforts in India contribute to global child outcomes. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, documenting best practices, and supporting the development of innovative approaches to enhance child welfare. The UNV will also engage in cross-learning among partner countries, sharing good practices on child development and well-being, and will be integral to building partnerships that support the Government of India's ambitions for Viksit Bharat 2047.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UNV Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including: providing technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming cycle on child-focused SSTC; facilitating program development and implementation; coordinating and documenting meetings with key partners; supporting the finalization of programming documents; maintaining a repository of key stakeholders; preparing regular program/project reports; researching and benchmarking best practices; collaborating with other UNICEF country offices; strategizing key SSTC advocacy initiatives; capturing and sharing lessons learned; and developing a user-friendly internal and external ECM site on SSTC. The specialist will also generate and share stories of impact from key initiatives and perform any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong technical and operational skills, with a background in social policy, child development, or a related field. They should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. A commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, as well as a genuine interest in volunteerism and development impact, is essential. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, culturally sensitive, and able to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's competitiveness for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in program management, social policy, or child development. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in a similar capacity is highly desirable. Familiarity with South-South Cooperation and child-focused initiatives will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Hindi or other regional languages is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the role.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer position based in New Delhi, India. The assignment will last for a specified period with the possibility of extensions based on funding availability and performance. National UN Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position offers a monthly Voluntary Living Allowance (VLA) of INR 70,158.41, along with comprehensive health, life, and disability insurance. Volunteers will also receive annual leave, relocation costs if applicable, and access to learning and career development resources. The role requires cultural sensitivity and an understanding of local traditions and practices.
