Job Overview:
The Innovative Climate Finance Expert position is crucial for driving Ukraine's green recovery by designing and advancing innovative climate finance solutions. This role involves building partnerships with donors, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and private sector actors to enhance program quality and strategic positioning across climate and energy initiatives. The expert will report to the Mercy Corps Ukraine Director of Programmes and will be responsible for developing and advising on climate and energy finance solutions, supporting the design of climate mitigation and adaptation programs, and contributing to investment cases for climate funds. The position requires a proactive approach to relationship building and a strong understanding of the climate finance landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Innovative Climate Finance Expert include:
  • Developing and advising on innovative climate and energy finance solutions, including blended finance, concessional instruments, guarantees, and carbon-related mechanisms.
  • Supporting the design of climate mitigation and adaptation programs and contributing to strong proposals and investment cases for climate funds, DFIs, and private-sector investors.
  • Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with government actors, finance institutions, humanitarian and development partners, and the private sector.
  • Representing Mercy Corps externally, tracking donor priorities, and contributing to influencing strategies on green recovery and climate finance.
  • Contributing to NORCAP learning activities, technical workshops, and required reporting.
  • Ensuring compliance with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security procedures and participating in organizational learning initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications: - An advanced degree in finance, economics, climate studies, or a related field. - 5-7 years of experience in climate finance, including blended finance and concessional finance instruments. - Demonstrated experience securing funding from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), global climate funds, and private investors. - Strong partnership-building, representation, and networking skills. - Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to tailor technical content to diverse audiences. - Fluency in English and strong digital literacy are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced degree in finance, economics, climate studies, or a related field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of climate finance and developing effective solutions to support green recovery efforts.

Experience:
The position requires 5-7 years of relevant experience in climate finance, particularly with blended finance and concessional finance instruments. Candidates should have a proven track record of securing funding from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), global climate funds, and private investors, demonstrating their ability to navigate the financial landscape effectively.

Languages:
