Job Overview: The Information Management Associate position is crucial for supporting UNHCR's operational efforts in Pakistan, particularly in the context of the ongoing refugee crisis involving Afghan refugees. The role involves operationalizing common datasets, participating in needs assessments, and engaging in data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The incumbent will play a key role in inter-agency coordination, focusing on data collection, reporting, and visualization. The Information Management Associate will be responsible for ensuring that data standards are met and that information is accurately compiled and shared, thereby contributing to effective decision-making and planning in the refugee response.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Associate include:
Operationalizing country-specific common data standards and promoting them with partners, including UNHCR data standards and the IASC Common Operational Datasets.
Compiling and aggregating information elements required to produce standardized information products and implementing data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data.
Collecting, collating, and processing information while performing data quality and consistency control.
Producing summary statistics and supporting the coordination of data collection teams.
Leveraging geographic data for map production and use in geographic information systems (GIS).
Sharing UNHCR data with partner agencies and maintaining Portal data and information in line with agreed frequencies.
Participating in needs assessment processes, specifically in data collection, processing/collation, and data exploration.
Liaising with partners and representing UNHCR in meetings related to the functions.
Making recommendations and providing advice on technical information management requirements. 1
Supporting the identification and management of risks and seeking to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. 1
Performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Information Management Associate position include:
A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma; or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or higher.
Essential experience with handling confidential data and a demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.
Desirable experience in web design and software development, as well as the ability to formulate IM-related technical requirements and operating procedures.
Functional skills in ArcGIS (Geographic Information System) and statistical analysis, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or higher for those with 2 years of relevant experience. While specific fields of education are not applicable, certifications in Information Technology, Statistics, or Social Sciences are beneficial and may enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: Candidates for the Information Management Associate position should possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience if they hold a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience if they have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. This experience should include handling confidential data and a solid understanding of various data collection methodologies.
