Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director (CD) serves as the official representative of Solidarités International in Sudan, overseeing the smooth operation of the mission. The CD is responsible for proposing and implementing the mission strategy in accordance with the geopolitical and humanitarian context. This role involves monitoring projects to ensure compliance with SI's charter and internal procedures, mobilizing necessary resources for effective program execution, and ensuring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of the teams on the ground. The CD acts as the primary liaison with SI's headquarters and is expected to maintain strong engagement with the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team based in N'Djamena, representing SI at high levels within the Sudan INGO community. The position requires significant flexibility, as the CD will need to operate across various locations including N'Djamena, eastern Sudan, and regional hubs such as Addis Ababa and Nairobi.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director's responsibilities include:
  • Representing Solidarités International in Sudan and maintaining high-level engagement with local authorities, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proposing and implementing the mission strategy based on the humanitarian context.
  • Monitoring project progress to ensure compliance with SI's standards and contractual obligations.
  • Mobilizing and managing material and financial resources for program effectiveness.
  • Coordinating and supervising the teams in place, ensuring their safety and security.
  • Liaising with SI headquarters for operational support and guidance.
  • Leading the FaSER (First and Second line Emergency Response) initiative in Sudan, coordinating with various NGOs to cover multiple sectors.
  • Developing and operationalizing new strategies for the Kordofan area and contributing to the 2027-2031 strategic plan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Humanitarian Affairs or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar leadership position within the humanitarian field. Strong management and leadership skills, networking abilities, and the capacity to mobilize necessary resources are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills, adaptability, and resilience under stress.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Humanitarian Affairs or an equivalent qualification is required for this position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in humanitarian principles, project management, and strategic planning relevant to the challenges faced in the field.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar leadership role. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex humanitarian operations and leading diverse teams in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, while proficiency in French is considered desirable. Strong communication skills in both languages will be essential for effective representation and coordination with various stakeholders.

The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 3,740, a monthly per diem of USD 750, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will also benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, as well as additional benefits for family members if applicable.
