Job Overview:
The General Physician position at CIMMYT is designed for a highly motivated and results-oriented professional who will provide comprehensive medical care to CIMMYT staff. The role emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and compliance with occupational health regulations. The physician will be responsible for delivering timely medical consultations, managing health campaigns, and ensuring the well-being of employees through various health initiatives. This position is crucial in fostering a healthy work environment and supporting the overall health of the staff at CIMMYT's headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The General Physician will perform a variety of essential duties, including: conducting general medical consultations for both acute and chronic conditions; providing first aid and emergency care; prescribing and following up on medical treatments; performing pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical evaluations; referring patients to specialists when necessary; and conducting clinical follow-ups on relevant cases. Additionally, the physician will be responsible for periodic inspections of first aid kits and defibrillators, supporting daily inspections of the CENDI, and maintaining occupational medical records. The role also involves health evaluations for specific risk exposures, participation in the Health and Safety Committee, management of medical leaves, and identification of vulnerable employees for workplace accommodations. The physician will design and implement health campaigns, conduct health education workshops, coordinate with Human Resources, and distribute informative bulletins and educational materials.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) and have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. The incumbent should be responsible, honest, dynamic, proactive, and highly committed to their work. Current certifications in Civil Protection courses such as First Aid, Evacuation, and Search and Rescue, as well as BLS and ATLS, are mandatory. Proficiency in computer equipment and Microsoft Office applications is required, along with an intermediate level of English (both written and conversational). Candidates will be tested on their English proficiency, with a minimum score of B1-B2 on the CEFR required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, specifically as a Medical Doctor (M.D.). This foundational education is essential for providing the necessary medical care and understanding the complexities of health management within an organizational setting.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar medical role. This experience should encompass a broad range of medical practices, including general consultations, emergency care, and occupational health, ensuring that the candidate is well-prepared to handle the responsibilities of the General Physician role effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, with an intermediate level required for both written and conversational communication. Candidates will be assessed on their English language skills, and a minimum score of B1-B2 on the CEFR is necessary. While English is essential, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this role.
