Job Overview: The Financial Analyst position at CIMMYT is a dynamic role that requires a self-motivated and service-oriented professional to join the Financial Planning Unit within the Finance department. The primary focus of this role is on finance, accounting, expenses analysis, and cost reallocation. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the institutional yearly budget process, which includes administration and operational expenses, as well as capital expenditures (CAPEX). The analyst will create institutional templates that incorporate historical data and forecasts for the remainder of the year, ensuring accurate financial planning and management. This position also involves monitoring monthly expenses, preparing financial reports, and supporting various financial management activities across the organization. The Financial Analyst will work closely with different departments to gather necessary information for budget analysis and will contribute to the development of reporting formats and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: participating in the institutional yearly budget process, creating templates for budget preparation, uploading budgets into the financial system (Microsoft Dynamics AX/365), monitoring monthly expenses against the budget, preparing financial management reports, managing contracts related to the D365 project, conducting midyear budget revisions, supporting institutional master data management, analyzing large databases in Excel, developing reporting formats and KPIs, preparing accurate financial reports in compliance with standards, supporting the Integrate Management Reporting Package (IMRP), collaborating with various departments for budget analysis, responding to ad hoc financial information requests, and performing additional duties as directed by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and expenses analysis. A strong knowledge of financial systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP), and proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing large databases, data extraction methods, and report presentation. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify financial trends are crucial for success in this role. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate advanced Excel skills, the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage conflicting deadlines. A proactive and flexible approach, along with a strong customer service orientation, is also required.
