Job Overview: CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-directed, and service-oriented individual for the position of Kitchen Assistant Supervisor for the BSD program operations chapter. This consultancy will be based at CIMMYT's headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, which is located 45 minutes from Mexico City. The role involves overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with health standards, and supporting food preparation and service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene and sanitation in various kitchen areas, assisting in daily food preparation, and providing excellent customer service during meal service and special events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitization of Areas: Conduct deep and surface cleaning in the kitchen, dining room, cafeteria, food truck, grocery store, warehouses, BBQ area, vending machines, Mexican corner, and community kitchen according to Distintivo H and Punto Limpio guidelines. Operate dishwashing machines, ensuring the correct use of chemicals and reporting any malfunctions. Clean major equipment (refrigerators, stoves, grills, ovens, hoods, filters, cold tables) and minor equipment (pots, knives, thermoses, cutting boards, inserts). Maintain clean drains and grease traps, managing waste according to internal logs. Clean service units, trash bins, and assist in inventory and organization of equipment in warehouses.
Daily Operational Support: Assist in food preparation: soups, side dishes, main courses, desserts, and snacks. Handle cash register transactions (cash and terminal) at various points of sale. Provide customer service at the service line, offering guidance and cordial attention. Refill refrigerators and assist in the warehouse with the organization of raw materials, delivery of vouchers, and water jugs. Receive suppliers and verify products against tickets. Cover shifts on weekends, holidays, or in the absence of staff.
Support in Special Events: Prepare cold and hot beverages as per operations. Participate in catering services: setup, execution, transportation, and cleaning. Provide customer service with quality and warmth.
Documentation and Compliance: Accurately fill out dining and cafeteria logs according to assigned activities. Report anomalies in facilities and equipment to ensure proper functioning. Collaborate in activities required for the recertification of Distintivo H, M, and Punto Limpio.
Required Qualifications: Basic computer knowledge. Experience or knowledge in food and beverage preparation. Availability to work shifts and weekends. Desirable: ability to drive and possess a valid driver's license.
