Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to support the Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ROEECA) of UN-Habitat. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Director or a designated officer, contributing to various tasks related to program support, partnerships, and reporting. The role involves assisting in coordination, communications, and analytical tasks that are essential for the effective functioning of the office. The intern will be involved in drafting and updating key documents, preparing presentations, and supporting the organization of meetings and events. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the workings of the United Nations and to contribute to significant urban development initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: drafting and updating talking points, briefing notes, and background documents for the Regional Director’s meetings and missions; preparing presentations, briefs, and visual materials for both internal and external audiences; assisting in drafting and reviewing official communications and coordination notes with various UN offices and partners; supporting coordination functions across ROEECA by tracking follow-ups and key priorities; compiling and synthesizing information for reports and strategic notes; conducting basic data analysis and visualization; contributing to knowledge management and documentation maintenance; organizing meetings, workshops, and regional events; supporting mobilization activities for the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in the ECCA region; and performing other related duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree, Master's, PhD, or equivalent. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in standard software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite. A demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter are essential. Candidates should also exhibit the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent), or being enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program, or having completed such programs. Preferred areas of study include Urban Studies, Urban Planning, International Development, International Relations, Public Administration, Economics, Environmental Studies, or related fields. This educational foundation is crucial as it aligns with the responsibilities and tasks associated with the internship.

Experience:
While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, it is essential that their field of study is closely related to the internship they are applying for. This means that candidates should ideally have academic experience or coursework that provides them with relevant knowledge and skills applicable to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
