Job Overview: The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the communication and e-learning capacities of the Trade Facilitation Section within the Trade Logistics Branch of the UN's Division on Technology and Logistics. This position involves working on two significant projects aimed at improving trade facilitation processes, particularly in Egypt and other beneficiary countries. The consultant will be responsible for mapping and simplifying trade procedures, organizing workshops, and providing support for the digitalization of trade documents. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the development and delivery of an e-learning course designed for National Trade Facilitation Committees (NTFCs), ensuring that the course content is engaging and informative. The role requires a proactive approach to communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including national institutions and international partners, to achieve the objectives of the projects effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Chief of the Trade Facilitation Section, including: 1) Assisting Egypt in mapping and simplifying trade procedures by conducting thorough analyses of trade-related information, organizing and facilitating workshops, and providing substantive support for consultative meetings. 2) Drafting background papers and reports, contributing to the simplification of 10 to 15 mapped documents, and preparing presentations for the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC). 3) Keeping the Egypt Trade Information Portal (TIP) updated by verifying information with relevant agencies. 4) Contributing to the preparations for the 'Intensive Communication for NTFCs' course, including researching best practices in communication, programming course content on the UNCTAD Trade Facilitation e-learning platform, and conducting customer relationship duties related to the e-learning course. 5) Organizing logistics for the course and ensuring effective communication with participants throughout the process.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's) in trade-related issues, design, communications, business administration, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in capacity building, communication, and organizing webinars or workshops is required. Experience with the Learnworlds learning management system is desired, along with knowledge of trade facilitation and specific experience using the Trade Information Portal system of UNCTAD.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's) in a relevant field such as trade-related issues, design, communications, or business administration is mandatory for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the projects.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in areas such as capacity building, communication, and organizing events like webinars and workshops. This experience is crucial for the consultant to effectively manage the responsibilities associated with the role and to engage with various stakeholders in the trade facilitation process.
Languages: Fluency in both written and oral Arabic and English is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of French and Spanish is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication with a broader range of stakeholders and participants in the e-learning courses.
