Job Overview:
The consultancy role focuses on mapping the Geneva ecosystem and developing strategic partnerships to enhance the mission of Safe Online, a global fund dedicated to protecting children from online harms. The consultant will be responsible for producing a comprehensive analysis of the Geneva ecosystem, identifying strategic partnership opportunities, and developing an actionable engagement strategy for Safe Online leadership. This role is crucial as Safe Online seeks to leverage Geneva's unique convergence of international organizations, academic institutions, and philanthropic actors to advance its mission of ensuring children's digital safety and wellbeing. The consultant will deliver concrete outputs, including stakeholder mapping, partnership opportunity assessments, and an engagement strategy, all aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing Safe Online's impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake several key deliverables:
  • Geneva Ecosystem Mapping Report: Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Geneva ecosystem relevant to Safe Online's strategic priorities, including mapping institutions, networks, and actors, analyzing their mandates and potential alignments with Safe Online, and identifying key decision-makers.
  • Partnership Opportunity Assessment: Identify and prioritize 10-15 high-potential partnership opportunities, providing rationale for each, potential collaboration modalities, and recommendations for engagement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Strategy: Develop an actionable strategy for Safe Online's engagement with the Geneva ecosystem, including a prioritized roadmap for outreach and recommendations for positioning within digital governance conversations.
  • Initial Stakeholder Outreach and Relationship Development: Execute outreach to at least 20 priority stakeholders, facilitating introductory meetings and preparing briefing materials.
  • Event and Convening Opportunities Report: Create a calendar of relevant events in Geneva for 2026, with recommendations for participation and logistics.
  • Final Report and Handover Package: Compile a final report summarizing findings, stakeholder databases, and recommendations for ongoing engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters) in social sciences, international development, journalism, business administration, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related disciplines. A minimum of 5 years of experience in partnership development, stakeholder mapping, or strategic engagement is required, along with strong existing networks within the Geneva ecosystem. Candidates should demonstrate experience in producing high-quality analytical reports and strategic recommendations, as well as a track record of facilitating high-level introductions and relationship development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, with fluency in both French and English required.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Masters) in relevant fields such as social sciences, international development, journalism, business administration, monitoring and evaluation, or data analysis. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of partnership development and stakeholder engagement within the Geneva ecosystem.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in partnership development, stakeholder mapping, or strategic engagement. Experience working with or within International Geneva, including the UN system or related institutions, is highly desirable. A proven ability to produce high-quality analytical reports and strategic recommendations is essential, as is a strong network within the Geneva ecosystem.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the Geneva context or the stakeholders involved.
