Job Overview: The Access to Information Associate (AI Associate) plays a pivotal role in supporting the EBRD's commitments to transparency and disclosure as outlined in the Access to Information Policy (AIP) and Directive on Access to Information (DIA). This position is integral to the implementation of the Bank's access to information framework across all operations and activities. The AI Associate will work closely with the Head of Access to Information to promote accountability and good governance within the Bank. This role involves providing advice on disclosure-related matters, ensuring compliance with the Bank's Environmental and Social Policy (ESP) and Project Accountability Policy (PAP), and liaising with various operational teams to balance the obligations of disclosure and confidentiality. The AI Associate will also support the Shareholder Relations team and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, project-affected communities, and civil society organizations, to enhance the Bank's transparency practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The AI Associate will be responsible for implementing the Bank's access to information framework and ensuring compliance with disclosure practices. Key responsibilities include leading the adoption of changes to internal processes and systems, monitoring compliance by Banking teams with institutional and project-level disclosure obligations, and preparing updates to the Operations Manual. The AI Associate will serve as a point of contact for practical implementation of the AIP and DIA, troubleshoot policy issues, and explore the use of technology, including Artificial Intelligence, to enhance transparency efforts. Additionally, the Associate will design and deliver training for staff, manage responses to information requests, and prepare annual implementation reports for the Board of Directors and external stakeholders. The role also involves maintaining collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders and participating in international forums on transparency and disclosure.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English, demonstrating self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines. Experience in banking, environmental and social issues, governance, and policy implementation is highly advantageous. A strong understanding of technology and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements are also essential for this role. The ideal candidate should be proactive, adaptable, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in fields such as law, public policy, international relations, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in transparency, governance, or environmental and social policy will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of the principles of transparency and disclosure in an international financial context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in areas such as banking, governance, environmental and social policy, or related fields. Experience working with international financial institutions or in roles that involve policy implementation and stakeholder engagement is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully managing projects and collaborating with diverse teams.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the EBRD's operational regions, is considered a strong advantage and may enhance a candidate's profile.
