Job Overview:
The E T Consultant position is a critical role within the Energy Investments, Solutions & Impact team (KIESI) at the World Bank Group. The primary focus of this position is to provide technical advice and expertise to regional investment teams, particularly in relation to renewable energy projects in Africa and Europe. The consultant will support Principal and Senior Industry Specialists in conducting technical due diligence for IFC power projects, which include solar PV, wind, and other generation technologies. This role is essential for informing investment decisions and ensuring compliance with IFC standards. The consultant will also be responsible for analyzing the design, construction, and operational performance of energy projects, ensuring they align with industry best practices and emerging market conditions. Additionally, the consultant will evaluate and validate capital cost estimates, operating parameters, and financial models for energy projects, contributing to the development and implementation of energy projects in emerging markets. The position requires monitoring and analyzing global trends in renewable energy technologies, costs, and market developments to provide actionable insights for IFC’s investment and advisory activities. Furthermore, the consultant will contribute to capacity-building initiatives by sharing technical expertise and best practices with colleagues and stakeholders, thereby enhancing IFC’s impact in the energy sector.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the E T Consultant position include a Master’s degree in engineering, with a focus on energy or a closely related field. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience in the electric power industry, with a strong preference for experience in the private sector and emerging markets. Demonstrated expertise in renewable energy technologies, particularly solar PV and wind, is essential, along with up-to-date knowledge of capital costs, operating parameters, contracting terms, and technical advancements. A proven track record in roles such as Lenders’ Technical Advisor, Owner’s Engineer, or EPC contracting on energy projects in emerging markets is also required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, along with fluency in French and Spanish, are mandatory.
