Job Overview: The Project Manager position at CHAI DRC involves leading the planning, coordination, and execution of an immunization strengthening program across nine health zones. This role requires close collaboration with provincial health authorities and the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI). The Project Manager will oversee various aspects of the program, including microplanning, field implementation, cold chainlogistics, digital monitoring, and capacity building for health staff and community relays (RECOs). The primary goal is to improve vaccination coverage and reduce zero-dose and dropout rates. The position demands strong leadership skills, operational rigor, and extensive experience in immunization or community health programs, particularly in low-resource settings. The Project Manager will also be responsible for performance tracking through real-time dashboards and ensuring high-quality reporting to CHAI and its donors, including GiveWell.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:
Project Management, Coordination, Planning, and Performance Management: Develop and monitor operational work plans, translate program objectives into actionable plans, oversee GIS microplanning, monitor implementation schedules, organize coordination meetings, write high-level reports for donors, and track performance indicators via real-time dashboards.
Field Activity Management: Oversee GIS micro-planning, ensure efficient cold chain logistics, coordinate digital monitoring tools for community relays, and monitor training and supervision visits.
Management of Resources: Oversee the management of allocated resources, monitor budget execution, ensure compliance with CHAI procedures, and lead a multidisciplinary team.
Capacity Building: Organize training for providers, strengthen data analysis capabilities, supervise RECO training, and conduct joint formative supervision.
Monitoring & Evaluation: Coordinate data collection, set up dashboards for KPIs, organize review meetings, oversee metric analysis, and prepare reports for CHAI and donors.
Evidence Generation: Document innovations and challenges, produce technical notes, and provide project progress updates.
People Leadership: Supervise health personnel, collaborate with health authorities, and represent the project at technical meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a graduate degree in public health, epidemiology, social sciences, medicine, immunization, project management, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in health project management is required, ideally with a focus on immunization programs or community health in low-resource settings. Proven expertise in microplanning, electronic data collection tools, and GIS skills is essential. Candidates should also have experience in field supervision, multi-sector coordination, and team management, along with proficiency in project management tools. Demonstrated experience in formative supervision, data analysis, and quality management is also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a graduate degree in relevant fields such as public health, epidemiology, social sciences, medicine, immunization, or project management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of health systems and the specific challenges faced in immunization and community health programs.
