Job Overview: The Associate Events Officer (Private Partnerships and Philanthropy) plays a pivotal role in supporting UNHCR’s engagement with the private sector and facilitating its participation in high-profile global events. This position requires a proactive individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that UNHCR’s leadership is effectively positioned to advance advocacy, fundraising, and partnership objectives. The officer will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of UNHCR’s participation in major events such as the World Economic Forum and the United Nations General Assembly. This role involves working closely with various internal divisions and external partners to ensure seamless event execution and impactful engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Events Officer include:
Event Coordination & Project Management: Supporting the end-to-end coordination of UNHCR’s engagement at high-level fora, managing timelines, workplans, and deliverables, and facilitating internal event taskforces.
Engagement Tracking & Stakeholder Coordination: Consolidating and tracking leadership engagements, liaising with internal divisions for alignment, and managing coordination channels with external partners.
Operational & Logistical Support: Assisting in the planning and execution of side events, bilateral meetings, and high-level roundtables, including venue coordination and participant tracking.
Knowledge Management: Maintaining structured archives and knowledge repositories to support consistency across annual event cycles and contributing to post-event reporting and lessons-learned exercises. Expected travel may include occasional missions in support of major global events, depending on operational needs.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field. An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in one of these fields is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination, event management, or partnership support with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years with a Master’s degree. Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder processes and supporting high-level meetings or events in international organizations, NGOs, or the private sector is essential. Familiarity with private sector engagement and resource mobilization is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in relevant fields such as International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, or Event Management.
