Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position at UNICEF is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of personnel and their eligible family members, as well as safeguarding UNICEF premises, assets, and resources. Reporting to the country office representative, the Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance in managing security planning, risk assessments, and security services. The role involves developing security risk management strategies, establishing safety and security services, building partnerships, and fostering innovation and knowledge management within the organization. The Security Officer will play a key role in enhancing the overall security framework and ensuring that UNICEF can operate effectively in various contexts, particularly in fragile and humanitarian settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement security risk management strategies tailored to the specific context of the duty station.
• Conduct thorough security assessments and risk analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Provide guidance and support to staff on security protocols and procedures to ensure compliance and safety.
• Establish and maintain effective communication channels with local authorities, security agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance security networking and partnership building.
• Organize and conduct training sessions for staff on security awareness and emergency response procedures.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and make recommendations for improvements.
• Prepare and maintain security reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other UN agencies and organizations to share best practices and enhance collective security efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, or Counter Terrorism. Additionally, at least 2 years of relevant work experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis is required. Demonstrated international security management experience and a solid understanding of the United Nations Security Management System are highly desirable. Candidates should also exhibit strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure in complex environments.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field is mandatory for this position. Fields of study that are particularly relevant include Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, Conflict and Security, and Counter Terrorism. This educational background is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage security risks and contribute to the safety of UNICEF operations.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis. Candidates with demonstrated international security management experience, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, will be preferred. Experience working within the United Nations Security Management System is also highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with the protocols and procedures necessary for effective security management in international organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication within the organization and with local stakeholders. Knowledge of other local languages spoken in the region is considered an asset, as it can enhance the Officer's ability to engage with diverse communities and understand local contexts better.
