Job Overview:

This role involves strategic planning, coordination, and supervision of supply chain functions, including customs clearance, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution of supplies. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that essential goods are delivered promptly to beneficiaries, thereby directly influencing program outcomes for children. The position requires a proactive approach to logistics management, ensuring transparency and efficiency in operations, which reinforces UNICEF's credibility as a reliable steward of funds and enhances its reputation for delivering sustainable results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the Supply Team in planning, performance management, and capacity building to ensure operational readiness.
• Advise and oversee all aspects of UNICEF logistics operations, ensuring efficiency and accountability through performance monitoring.
• Implement emergency preparedness and response strategies, ensuring readiness through agreements, stock prepositioning, and staff training.
• Foster coordination with regional and global partners to align with overarching supply chain strategies and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with program, procurement, and external partners to plan, monitor, and document supply activities and support donor engagement.
• Support partner assessments and monitor supply elements in HACT, participating in events to strengthen partnerships in supply and logistics.
• Provide technical and advisory support to strengthen government supply chains, including capacity building and change management.

Required Qualifications:
A university degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or a related social science field is required. A minimum of two years' relevant experience at both national and international levels in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or closely related technical fields is essential. Experience in health supply chain management is an advantage, along with demonstrated knowledge of development and humanitarian operations. Strong analytical, negotiating, and strategic abilities are necessary, as well as effective resource management and team supervision skills. The candidate should be able to build productive relationships in multicultural settings and possess a high level of knowledge in supply chain management and humanitarian programs.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or related social sciences. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of supply chain operations and logistics management within the context of UNICEF's mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, or administration at both national and international levels. Experience in health supply chain management is considered an advantage, and familiarity with development and humanitarian operations is essential. Candidates with experience in emergency contexts will be viewed favorably, as this role may involve responding to urgent logistical needs in crisis situations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset. Additionally, proficiency in a local language may enhance communication and effectiveness in the role.
