Job Overview:
The position involves hiring an Individual Consultant to conduct research on gender disparity in Pakistan. This role is crucial as it aims to inform policy decisions and contribute to the UNDP's mission of promoting gender equality and women's empowerment. The assignment is expected to last for a total of 110 working days over a period of 9 months, commencing from the signing of the contract. The consultant will need to submit a proposal directly through the UNDP supplier portal, and any clarifications regarding the assignment must be communicated through the portal's messaging functionality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including: conducting a comprehensive literature review on gender disparity in Pakistan; collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data related to gender issues; engaging with stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community organizations, to gather insights and perspectives; drafting a detailed report that outlines findings, conclusions, and recommendations; presenting the research findings to UNDP and relevant stakeholders; ensuring that the research adheres to ethical standards and respects the confidentiality of participants; and providing ongoing support and consultation throughout the research process to ensure alignment with UNDP's objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field. They should have proven experience in conducting research, particularly in the context of gender issues. Familiarity with the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan and previous work with UN agencies or similar organizations will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or higher in gender studies, social sciences, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with a PhD in a relevant discipline will be given preference. Academic qualifications should be complemented by practical experience in gender research and analysis.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in conducting research, particularly in gender-related issues. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies in Pakistan will be highly advantageous. The candidate should also have a track record of producing high-quality research outputs and reports.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages will be considered a significant advantage, as it will facilitate engagement with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is set for 110 working days over a span of 9 months. This is a consultancy role, and the consultant will be expected to work independently while maintaining regular communication with the UNDP team. The position is not full-time, allowing for flexibility in scheduling work hours. Compensation details will be discussed during the selection process, and the consultant will be responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
