Job Overview: This consultancy assignment focuses on Governance and Public Policy within the Dominican Republic. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current governance and public policy landscape in the Dominican Republic.
Engage with key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders, to gather insights and perspectives on governance challenges.
Develop a set of recommendations for improving governance frameworks and public policies, ensuring alignment with international best practices and UNDP standards.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for UNDP and relevant stakeholders.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build capacity among local stakeholders in governance and public policy formulation.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of proposed policies and frameworks, providing ongoing support and adjustments as necessary.
Collaborate with UNDP teams to integrate governance and public policy considerations into broader development initiatives.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Proven experience in governance and public policy development, particularly in the context of developing countries.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operational frameworks is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, or a related discipline. A Ph.D. in a relevant area will be considered an asset, particularly for those with a focus on governance and public policy.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in governance and public policy, with a proven track record of successfully implementing similar consultancy assignments. Experience working with international organizations, particularly UN agencies, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Dominican Republic's political and social context will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory, as the Terms of Reference (ToR) are available in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region will be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This consultancy assignment is expected to be conducted on a full-time basis, with a specific duration outlined in the Terms of Reference. The consultant will be engaged as an individual contractor, and the contract will be subject to the terms and conditions set forth by UNDP. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
