Job Overview:
This position involves providing local consultancy support to the UNDP in the creation of pedagogical characters. The consultant will be expected to engage with educational stakeholders to develop characters that can be used in educational materials and programs. The role requires a deep understanding of pedagogical principles and the ability to translate these into engaging and effective characters that resonate with learners. The consultant will work closely with the UNDP team to ensure that the characters align with educational goals and cultural contexts. This position is crucial for enhancing the educational resources available to teachers and students in Uruguay, thereby contributing to improved learning outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct research on existing pedagogical characters and their effectiveness in educational settings.
• Collaborate with educational experts to identify key themes and messages that should be conveyed through the characters.
• Develop character profiles that include backgrounds, motivations, and educational objectives.
• Create engaging narratives and scenarios that incorporate the characters into educational materials.
• Test the characters with target audiences to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments.
• Work with graphic designers and illustrators to bring the characters to life visually.
• Ensure that all characters are culturally relevant and appropriate for the Uruguayan educational context.
• Provide training and support to educators on how to effectively use the characters in their teaching.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

• A strong background in education, particularly in curriculum development or instructional design.
• Experience in creating educational content or materials, preferably involving character development.
• Knowledge of pedagogical theories and practices, especially those relevant to the Uruguayan education system.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to conduct research and analyze educational needs and trends.
• Creativity and innovation in character design and storytelling.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have at least a bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant area would be an advantage. Additional certifications in educational content development or pedagogy would also be beneficial.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in educational consultancy, curriculum development, or instructional design. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in the context of education, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as all materials and communications will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in English is also preferred, as it may be necessary for collaboration with international teams and accessing global resources.

This consultancy position is part-time and will be contracted for a specific duration aligned with the project timeline. The consultant will work remotely but may be required to attend meetings in person as needed. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the scope of work agreed upon.
