Job Overview: The National Consultant/Trainer position at UN Women involves developing and conducting training modules on gender equality and women's empowerment. The consultant will be responsible for adapting existing training materials and creating new content tailored to various target groups. This role requires collaboration with UN Women staff to ensure the training meets the needs of stakeholders, including state agencies, private sector entities, and non-governmental organizations. The consultant will conduct training sessions across Georgia, both in-person and online, and will be expected to engage in awareness-raising activities. The position also entails conducting training needs assessments, developing training agendas, and producing comprehensive reports on training outcomes. The consultant will work under the supervision of the UN Women Country Representative and will be supported by a Project Assistant for contract and payment issues. The role is home-based but may require travel to different regions of Georgia for training purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Consultant will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Familiarizing themselves with existing UN Women training modules on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment.
Designing new training modules or adapting existing ones for different target groups in consultation with UN Women staff.
Conducting a series of trainings on gender equality and women’s empowerment for participants from various stakeholder groups, both in Tbilisi and other urban and rural locations, as well as online.
Implementing awareness-raising activities on gender equality, utilizing standardized tools such as the 'In Her Shoes' role play.
Conducting Training of Trainers (ToTs) for different stakeholders, including facilitators for the 'In Her Shoes' program.
Developing a detailed work plan for the assignment.
Creating a training needs assessment questionnaire and conducting assessments of training participants.
Developing detailed agendas, modules, presentations, and relevant training materials.
Carrying out post-training assessments and analyzing the results. 1
Drafting and submitting final training reports that outline the training process, assessments, and recommendations for further capacity development.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong academic background and relevant work experience. Candidates must possess a university degree (Master’s) in gender/women’s studies, human rights, sociology, law, international development, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, or human rights, combined with two additional years of relevant experience, may be considered. Candidates should have at least five years of professional experience in gender equality and women’s rights, with a focus on delivering training to various audiences, including government officials, civil society, and private sector representatives. Experience in developing training manuals and programs, as well as a solid understanding of interactive learning methods and adult-learning techniques, is essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a Master’s degree in gender/women’s studies, human rights, sociology, law, international development, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, or human rights may be acceptable if accompanied by two additional years of relevant work experience. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and effectively delivering training on these topics.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in the field of gender equality and women’s rights. If the candidate holds only a Bachelor’s degree, a total of seven years of experience is required. This experience should include delivering training on gender issues to diverse audiences, including government officials, civil society organizations, private sector companies, and grassroots communities. Additionally, candidates should have proven experience in developing training manuals, modules, and programs, demonstrating a strong grasp of interactive learning methods and adult-learning techniques.
Languages: Fluency in Georgian is mandatory, along with a good knowledge of English. This language proficiency is essential for effective communication during training sessions and for understanding relevant materials and resources.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, but it may require travel to various regions of Georgia, with up to 15 trips anticipated during the contract period. The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the UN Women Country Representative and will be managed on a day-to-day basis by UN Women Programme Specialists and Analysts. The consultant is expected to provide monthly reports detailing completed work, which must be submitted by the 20th of each month worked.
