Job Overview:
The Communications Associate plays a crucial role within the Country Office (CO) structure, working under the direct supervision of the Communications and Partnerships Analyst. This position is integral to the CO's objectives, focusing on producing high-quality, engaging content and maintaining consistent updates across all digital platforms. The Associate's work is vital for strengthening media relations and amplifying the visibility of UNFPA's initiatives. By employing creative storytelling and strategic platform management, the Associate will help translate complex developmental goals into accessible content, fostering a sense of shared purpose among stakeholders and the wider Georgian community. The role requires a proactive approach to digital communication, ensuring that UNFPA's messaging is impactful and responsive to the needs of diverse audiences, particularly youth.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Associate will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the UNFPA CO Advocacy and Communication Plan, which involves building and maintaining a robust network with journalists specializing in human rights, gender equality, and reproductive health to enhance media coverage of UNFPA-related news and events.
  • Ensuring a consistent and compelling social media presence for UNFPA Georgia by managing a content calendar and optimizing all digital platforms, which includes monitoring digital trends and managing social media accounts and the CO webpage in accordance with UNFPA corporate guidance.
  • Leading the production of impactful and innovative content, such as articles, blog posts, infographics, videos, applications, and board games, in collaboration with designers, photographers, and videographers to ensure alignment with UNFPA and donor visibility rules.
  • Analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of digital communication efforts, using insights to inform and adjust communication strategies as necessary.
  • Supporting the Communication Analyst in preparing advocacy materials and obtaining necessary clearances and approvals for all products, maintaining the monthly content production plan, and ensuring compliance with internal quality and policy standards.
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of local and global communication campaigns in coordination with partners, and maintaining a steady information flow with UNFPA-supported projects and implementing partners to ensure synchronized communication and successful advocacy events.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or relevant fields, or an equivalent qualification with an additional three years of similar working experience. The role requires strong coordination and digital skills, as well as the ability to perform under pressure and adapt to change. International or multicultural experience, particularly within the UN system, is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to UNFPA's values and mission, showcasing integrity and a dedication to gender equality and cultural diversity.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or related fields is required. Candidates with equivalent qualifications and additional relevant experience will also be considered. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and media relations within the context of UNFPA's mission.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in press release writing, social media management, and the production of multimedia materials, including videos and infographics. Strong coordination skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment are essential. Previous experience working in international or multicultural settings, particularly within the UN system, is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Georgian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Russian is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the region and with diverse stakeholders.
