Job Overview:
The position of Procurement Process IC - Individual contractor involves engaging with the procurement processes of UNDP in Lebanon. The individual contractor will be responsible for supporting the procurement unit in various tasks related to the procurement of goods and services. This role is crucial for ensuring that procurement activities are conducted in accordance with UNDP policies and procedures. The contractor will be expected to contribute to the development of procurement strategies, assist in the preparation of tender documents, and ensure compliance with procurement regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve procurement objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Procurement Process IC include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in the preparation and execution of procurement plans and strategies.
  • Supporting the procurement unit in the development of tender documents and specifications.
  • Conducting market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.
  • Evaluating bids and proposals received from suppliers and making recommendations for award.
  • Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with UNDP policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of procurement transactions and documentation.
  • Collaborating with other UNDP units and external stakeholders to facilitate procurement processes.
  • Providing support in contract management and monitoring supplier performance.
  • Assisting in the resolution of procurement-related issues and disputes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of procurement processes and regulations, particularly in the context of international organizations. They should have excellent analytical and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Familiarity with UNDP procurement policies is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with team members and external partners.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, procurement, supply chain management, or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification in procurement or supply chain management would be an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of procurement principles and practices, as well as relevant legal frameworks.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within an international organization or development context. Experience in managing procurement processes, conducting market research, and evaluating bids is essential. Familiarity with UNDP or UN procurement processes is a significant advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local suppliers and stakeholders. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and may involve a flexible working arrangement. The contract duration will be specified upon selection, and the role may require occasional travel within Lebanon.
