Job Overview: The Project Manager for the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity will be responsible for the overall management, coordination, and technical oversight of the project in Indonesia. Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Project Manager will lead daily operations to ensure that all project activities are executed efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with both donor and organizational requirements. This role involves overseeing project planning, budgeting, implementation, and performance monitoring, ensuring alignment with STRIDES’ objectives to enhance infectious disease detection, surveillance, and response systems. The Project Manager will work closely with technical teams, sub-award partners, and relevant government and stakeholder counterparts to ensure integrated, high-quality, and timely delivery of project outcomes. Key responsibilities include supporting the oversight of work plans and deliverables, managing risks and compliance, monitoring progress against performance indicators, and facilitating effective communication among stakeholders. The Project Manager will also promote learning and documentation of best practices to support adaptive management and continuous improvement in program implementation, playing a crucial role in advancing Indonesia's global healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security agenda.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will coordinate and ensure the development of projects from initiation to completion based on established project scope, goals, and deliverables. Responsibilities include developing and managing the project workplan, assigning tasks according to the project RASCI, and ensuring overall progress. The Project Manager will oversee documentation and reporting, ensuring accuracy and presenting updates to stakeholders. They will lead stakeholder communication, ensuring alignment and addressing concerns, and develop a comprehensive project workplan that details all aspects of the project. The role requires coordinating project team members to meet objectives and deliverables while fostering a collaborative work environment. The Project Manager will provide guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities, and encouraging effective teamwork. Additionally, they will develop best practices and tools for project execution and management, evaluate project progress regularly, and build partnerships with internal and external partners vital to project success. The Project Manager will ensure budgets reflect project activities and manage operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in a matrix environment. They will also oversee compliance with policies and procedures and implement process improvement plans, keeping abreast of the latest project management strategies and tools.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Project Management, International Development, or a related field. Professional training or certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2), Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, and Youth or related areas will be considered an advantage. A Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred. The role requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience with project management principles and practices, including at least 2+ years of line management experience. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization, particularly managing United States government (USG) funded awards, is essential. Familiarity with USG rules and regulations is also required, along with experience in international or domestic program development or project management.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Project Management, or International Development. Additional professional training or certification in areas related to project management, health, nutrition, or technology is advantageous. A Project Management Certification is preferred, indicating a formal recognition of the candidate's expertise in managing projects effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in project management, with at least 2+ years in a line management role. Candidates should have prior experience working in NGOs, government agencies, or private organizations, specifically managing USG-funded awards. Familiarity with complex USG contract/acquisition mechanisms is necessary, along with a background in international or domestic program development or project management.
Languages: Fluency in English and Indonesian is required, with excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and communities.
