Job Overview: The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, including the preparation of the general ledger, operational accounting, and supporting budget and forecasting activities. This role involves leading the accounting staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all regulations. The manager will also collaborate with other finance department managers to achieve overall departmental goals and objectives. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and implementing organizational accounting best practices, ensuring that all financial reporting deadlines are met, and providing training to staff as necessary. The role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting the organization's mission through effective financial management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage key processes for year-end closing, field audits, and analysis of government expenses and audited financial statements.
Oversee daily accounting functions to ensure compliance with accounting practices and procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes.
Collaborate with finance department managers to support overall departmental goals.
Support budget and forecasting activities, providing insights and analysis.
Monitor and analyze departmental work to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Develop and implement new procedures to improve workflow.
Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff members.
Advise staff on handling non-routine reporting transactions.

Supervise the general ledger group to meet financial reporting deadlines.

Coach and mentor staff, delegating responsibilities and conducting performance reviews.
Required Qualifications:
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting concepts and practices.
Ability to influence and motivate team members and work collaboratively with others.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze diverse factors and make informed decisions.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be in accounting, finance, or a related field, providing the foundational knowledge necessary for effective financial management and reporting.
Experience: The position typically requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in managing US government and contract accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing. Candidates should have a proven track record of effectively managing financial operations and leading teams in a similar environment, preferably within a non-governmental organization (NGO).
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak clearly and professionally. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and may involve less than 10% travel. The job is full-time and may require long hours spent in front of a computer screen.
