Job Overview: The Project Management Officer will play a crucial role in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) at the IAEA, specifically within the Networks Management and Partnership Section (NMPS). This position involves contributing to the management and implementation of activities related to regional and thematic safety networks. The officer will be responsible for promoting cooperation and collaboration among various networks across different regions, enhancing partnerships both within the department and externally. The role requires providing advice and support for computerized solutions that improve business processes and systems, thereby facilitating the primary needs of the IAEA’s global and regional safety networks. The Project Management Officer will also be involved in developing and implementing the work programme for the Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN) and its associated regional networks, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with member states and relevant organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Management Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Developing and implementing the work programme for GNSSN and regional safety networks, such as the Asian Nuclear Safety Network (ANSN) and the Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies in Africa (FNRBA).
Facilitating cooperation with member states and relevant organizations to ensure the successful implementation of network activities.
Collaborating with other departments within the IAEA to enhance service delivery and support countries embarking on nuclear power programmes.
Delivering training, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance technical competencies among member states and departmental staff.
Coordinating the departmental knowledge management process, including managing the NS intranet and induction courses for newcomers.
Managing IT solutions for network operations, ensuring compliance with IAEA IT and cybersecurity standards.
Tracking project progress, preparing reports for management and donors, and identifying lessons learned to inform future strategies.
Providing project management for knowledge network IT solutions and overseeing their implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as science, international relations, project management, business administration, economics, or law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law. A minimum of five years of relevant working experience is required, particularly in project management and knowledge networks project coordination. Certification in recognized project management methodologies, such as PMP or PRINCE2, is highly desirable. Experience in developing capacity building programmes and managing web-based platforms for knowledge sharing is essential. Strong analytical writing skills and the ability to establish contacts with member states and relevant organizations are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Candidates with advanced degrees or additional certifications in project management or related disciplines may have an advantage. The focus is on candidates who have a solid understanding of nuclear safety and security, as well as experience in international cooperation mechanisms.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience, with a strong emphasis on project management and coordination of knowledge networks. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing capacity building programmes, as well as managing web-based platforms for knowledge sharing. Proven experience in designing and delivering training or workshops related to safety networks or knowledge management is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
