Job Overview:
The position is aimed at providing qualified candidates to the IAEA Departments for multiple short-term positions and assignments within the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section. This section is responsible for assisting member states in developing safe, environmentally friendly, and sustainable fuel cycle options. The role involves registering qualified consultants and experts who can contribute to various projects related to nuclear fuel cycle technologies, decommissioning, radioactive waste management, and environmental remediation. Candidates are encouraged to create profiles and register for potential short-term assignments, which may include technical editing, training course development, and knowledge transfer activities. The involvement of experts is crucial for fostering technology transfer and building capacity in member states regarding nuclear fuel cycle management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include performing technical editing of multi-author documents, developing training courses based on existing guidance and reference materials, creating storyboards for eLearning modules that correlate with published documents, and developing a series of web articles based on existing publications. Experts will be expected to provide specialized advice in various areas of nuclear engineering, including but not limited to geology, nuclear raw materials, nuclear chemical engineering, project management, irradiation effects on equipment and materials, nuclear fuel performance, and management systems for nuclear facilities. The role may also involve contributing to the development of sound policies and strategies for nuclear fuel cycle management and promoting information exchange among member states.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or an advanced university degree in fields such as Geology, Chemistry, Mineral Resources, Economic Geology, Mining, Material Science, Nuclear Fuel, Nuclear Engineering, or related disciplines. A Doctorate degree is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in editing, document writing, and/or training and knowledge transfer specifically related to the nuclear fuel cycle. Experience at the national, regional, or international level is highly valued. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree or an advanced degree in relevant fields such as Geology, Chemistry, Nuclear Engineering, or related areas. A Doctorate degree is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's profile. The educational qualifications should align with the technical demands of the nuclear fuel cycle and materials management.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the nuclear fuel cycle, particularly in areas such as uranium/thorium resource exploration, nuclear fuel design, fabrication, operation, and spent fuel management. Experience in editing and document writing, as well as training and knowledge transfer, is crucial. Relevant professional experience at various levels, including national, regional, or international, is considered an asset and will strengthen the application.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official language of the IAEA, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's qualifications.
