Job Overview: The Consultant - Microsoft Power BI Specialist position at UNRWA is focused on leveraging data analytics to enhance decision-making processes within the organization. The role requires a deep understanding of data requirements and the ability to translate these into actionable insights through user stories. The specialist will be responsible for creating visually compelling reports and dashboards using Power BI, as well as improving existing BI solutions. This position is crucial for integrating new technologies and ensuring data quality, thereby supporting the organization's mission to provide effective services to Palestinian refugees. The consultant will also be involved in training and documentation, ensuring that the knowledge is effectively shared within the team.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Microsoft Power BI Specialist include:
Collaborating with business units to understand and analyze data requirements, translating them into user stories for development sprints.
Creating new Power BI reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI desktop.
Reviewing and enhancing existing BI reporting solutions to improve performance and user experience.
Integrating advanced analytics technologies, including PowerFlow and PowerApps, to enhance data analysis capabilities.
Designing and implementing statistical data quality procedures for new data sources.
Conducting sanity checks and unit testing of reports, and participating in end-user testing to resolve bugs and issues.
Liaising with operational teams to provide recommendations on performance, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and user interface improvements.
Developing documentation and training materials, and conducting training sessions as needed.
Communicating project plans, status updates, and issues with project management. 1

Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree or a master's degree from an accredited educational institution in relevant fields such as information technology, information management, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, business administration, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge required to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in software applications development and implementation. Candidates should have hands-on experience in building reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, as well as proficiency in SQL and DAX. Experience with Power BI service on Microsoft Azure and familiarity with SSIS and SQL Server on-premise are also necessary. This level of experience is crucial for the candidate to effectively contribute to the organization's data analytics efforts and to support the existing portfolio of deployed BI assets.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. This proficiency is essential for effective communication within the team and with stakeholders, as well as for the preparation of documentation and training materials. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The consultancy position is expected to last between 6 to 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. The remuneration for this consultancy role is set at USD 1,259.40, along with an additional 8.33% advanced termination indemnity, contingent on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience. It is important to note that UNRWA does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a fair and transparent hiring process.
