Job Overview:
The Protection Officer (CSP) will be instrumental in implementing NRC’s Civilian Self-Protection program in Gaza, adhering to NRC's Protection from Violence standards, guidelines, and tools. This role involves direct engagement with affected communities to conduct participatory assessments, identify protection risks, and facilitate community action plans. The Protection Officer will also provide psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support and referrals as necessary, ensuring accurate and confidential documentation of program activities. Regular reporting on achievements and challenges is expected, along with close coordination with local leaders, service providers, and partner organizations. The position requires active participation in protection assessments, field visits, and ongoing monitoring of safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security conditions in the area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with NRC policies and guidelines, particularly regarding the Protection from Violence Core Competency strategy. Specific duties include conducting assessments, facilitating core CSP training, and following up on community action plans. The officer will maintain accurate and confidential CSP files, develop effective relationships with stakeholders, and prepare procurement requests for material assistance. Additionally, the officer will participate in mapping exercises to identify protection risks and barriers to service access, consistently monitoring safety and security in the field, and reporting any concerns to management. The role may also involve undertaking other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least two years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly with international organizations. A background in social work, community engagement, or human rights is preferred, along with knowledge of protection issues. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize work effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, and an advanced level of Arabic, both written and verbal, is mandatory, with English being an added advantage.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social work, community engagement, human rights, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of human rights and protection issues, particularly as they relate to affected populations.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on implementing social work or community engagement initiatives. Experience working with affected populations and knowledge of psychosocial support concepts are highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with advanced proficiency in both written and verbal communication. Proficiency in English is considered an advantage but not a requirement.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is three months, with the possibility of extension based on budget availability. The working hours are set at 38 hours per week, from Sunday to Thursday. The salary and benefits are determined according to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions, specifically for the Gaza duty station. The position is open only to residents of the Gaza Strip.
