Job Overview: The Product Development Lead for the Digital Archive System will be responsible for overseeing the technical leadership activities related to the development and maintenance of an AI-based historical archive solution. This role involves coordinating with various units within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID) to ensure the delivery of high-performance software solutions that meet business requirements. The incumbent will work on a comprehensive solution that semi-automates the reconstruction of refugees' family trees, integrating various components such as AI, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, and data management tools. The position requires a strong focus on product quality, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and performance, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Product Development Lead include overseeing the entire project development lifecycle of the Digital Archive System, which is built using Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Cognitive Services, Document Intelligence, MS SQL, and .Net. The incumbent will guide the project development team to deliver and enhance the product within specified timelines, evaluate and improve AI results, ensure product quality and security, provide technical direction, and mentor cross-functional development teams. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting product issues, prioritizing backlog items, preparing product documentation and release notes, delivering regular progress updates, and leading agile ceremonies across teams.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a relevant first-level university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of 5 years of experience in product leadership, software development, or technical delivery roles is required. Proven experience in leading teams delivering products built with Power Platform, .Net, MS SQL, Azure services, and RESTful integrations is essential. Candidates should have hands-on experience managing and enhancing AI integration using appropriate LLM models, as well as a strong background in defining product roadmaps and driving agile delivery across teams.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) from an accredited institution in fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, or other related disciplines. In lieu of an advanced degree, a first-level university degree combined with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in product leadership, software development, or technical delivery roles. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading teams in delivering products built with technologies such as Power Platform, .Net, MS SQL, Azure services, and RESTful integrations. Experience in managing AI integration and enhancing product workflows is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of UNRWA. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is based in UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan, with a contract duration of up to 12 months. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to P3 Step 1, amounting to $7,924.25 for each fully completed month. The possibility of contract extension is subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance.
