The internship is full-time and unpaid, lasting for a period of six months, during which the intern will work under the supervision of the Head of the Subregional Office. The role involves assisting with research initiatives, coordinating UN-ASEAN engagements, supporting the planning and delivery of meetings and events, and developing communication materials to enhance the visibility of SROSEA's work. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development and policy work, while contributing to significant regional initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Contributing to research initiatives related to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ASEAN, which involves conducting literature reviews, compiling data, and drafting analytical inputs.
Assisting in the coordination of UN-ASEAN engagements and joint initiatives, which includes preparing background materials, tracking activities, and supporting communication with both internal and external partners.
Supporting the planning and delivery of SROSEA meetings and events, such as policy dialogues, workshops, and consultations. This entails assisting with agenda preparation, participant coordination, and logistical arrangements.
Developing communication and outreach materials, including flyers, press releases, newsletter content, and social media posts to enhance SROSEA's visibility and engagement.
Providing support on special projects and other tasks as required, contributing to the broader work programme of the Office.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet the following qualifications: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree (master's degree or equivalent); (b) have completed a first university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent); (c) possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Canva; and (d) demonstrate strong research and writing skills. While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. An official certificate confirming enrollment or completion of the required degrees will need to be provided at a later stage.
Educational Background: The position requires applicants to have completed at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and preferably be enrolled in or have completed a master's degree. This educational background should be in a field relevant to economic affairs, sustainable development, or a related discipline, ensuring that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge to contribute effectively to the work of SROSEA.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.
