Job Overview: The contractor will play a crucial role in supporting the organization of national and regional trainings aimed at enhancing the capabilities of SME development agencies in Malaysia and the Philippines. This position involves coaching SMEs to adopt greener practices, developing business collaborations between green SMEs and larger enterprises, and facilitating exchanges among SME development agencies at the ASEAN level. The contractor will be responsible for assessing training needs, developing training toolkits, and providing coaching services to SMEs, thereby contributing to the overall goal of promoting a green economy in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a training needs analysis to identify gaps in supporting green transitions for SMEs in Malaysia and the Philippines.
Develop two comprehensive training toolkits tailored for greening SMEs, ensuring that gender perspectives are incorporated.
Coach SME development agencies in Malaysia and the Philippines on the implementation of the training toolkits.
Provide coaching services to 60 SMEs over two years, with 30 SMEs receiving coaching in each year.
Facilitate business collaborations between green SMEs and larger enterprises through matchmaking exercises and support in drafting business agreements.
Organize exchanges for SME development agencies in South-East Asia to share best practices and resources for supporting green SMEs.
Develop a compendium of training resources that support the green transition of SMEs, incorporating gender perspectives.
Prepare policy suggestions to promote green SMEs in the ASEAN region.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Business, International Affairs, Management, Finance, Accountancy, Law, Public Policy, or a related field. Additionally, the candidate should have at least two years of experience in research, project management, and event planning, with a minimum of one year specifically focused on promoting green or inclusive business practices. Desirable qualifications include work experience in South and Southeast Asia, familiarity with the United Nations, and expertise in green business, inclusive business, or impact investment.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as Business, International Affairs, Management, Finance, Accountancy, Law, or Public Policy is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the objectives of the Green Shift Project.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience, particularly in research, project management, and planning events. At least one year of this experience should be specifically related to the promotion of green or inclusive business practices. Experience working in South and Southeast Asia, as well as with the United Nations, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is crucial for coaching, training, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
Additional Notes: The expected duration of the contract is from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026, with a potential extension from May 1, 2026, to July 31, 2026, depending on available funding.
