Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: liaising with different offices on communication requests; assisting in the proofreading and editing of content for various formats such as print, web, and multimedia; supporting updates to web content; proposing improvements for web graphics and design; assessing existing records-management tools and contributing to record-keeping initiatives; drafting notes, speeches, messages, reports, and background documents; compiling statistics and generating reports; preparing presentation materials including graphs, charts, and PowerPoint slides; and supporting the implementation of other HR strategies. This diverse set of responsibilities will provide the intern with a comprehensive understanding of the operations within the Office of Human Resources and the broader UN framework.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background or exposure to human resources, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship they are applying for. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel, and familiarity with synchronous learning tools and media design software is advantageous.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
