Job Overview: The Programme Associate (School Feeding) position is crucial for supporting the implementation of school feeding activities in Cox’s Bazar, particularly in the context of the ongoing humanitarian response. The role involves providing technical assistance to local education authorities, schools, and teachers to ensure effective program delivery. The associate will work closely with the School Feeding Programme Officer to design and implement initiatives aimed at enhancing the capacity of government education officials and trainers. This includes organizing training sessions for teachers, overseeing school-level activities, and ensuring that best practices from previous programs are maintained. The position also requires collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate the smooth execution of school feeding initiatives, particularly in the Rohingya refugee camps and Bhasan Char. The associate will play a key role in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these programs, ensuring that they meet the educational and nutritional needs of children in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include:
Assisting the School Feeding Programme Officer in the implementation of school feeding activities in Cox’s Bazar.
Providing technical assistance to local government education offices, schools, and teachers to ensure effective delivery of program activities.
Designing and implementing initiatives to strengthen the capacity of government education officials and master trainers, focusing on teachers’ professional development in instructional methods and library management.
Organizing and facilitating training sessions for teachers on Bangla instruction and library activities.
Providing Training of Trainers (ToT) and on-site support to teachers on extracurricular initiatives such as Little Doctors and Little Agriculturists activities.
Organizing training sessions for education officials and vendors on supply chain management related to the new modality of the government-implemented school feeding program.
Overseeing and monitoring school-level training and orientations conducted by trained teachers for schoolchildren.
Providing technical and capacity-strengthening support to schools in implementing annual health check-ups, deworming campaigns, health and nutrition sessions, and establishing vegetable gardens in schoolyards.
Organizing quarterly meetings with headteachers and master trainers to review progress, address challenges, and identify support needs. 1
Conducting school visits to monitor and ensure the continuation of best practices from the previous WFP-implemented school feeding program. 1
Establishing and maintaining strong liaison and coordination with District and Upazila Education Offices to ensure smooth implementation of capacity-strengthening activities. 1
Contributing to the implementation of school feeding activities in Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Programme Associate position include:
Completion of a University Degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) is required, preferably in a relevant field such as education, social sciences, or public health.
Advanced university degree in education is preferable.
Good facilitation skills and a vast knowledge of curriculum, material, and module development are essential.
Excellent Bangla writing skills are mandatory, as effective communication is crucial for training and capacity-building activities.
Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government officials, teachers, and community members.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a University Degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in a relevant field. An advanced degree in education is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of educational methodologies and program implementation strategies. This educational background is essential for effectively designing and delivering training programs and ensuring that the school feeding initiatives align with educational standards and practices.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 6 years of overall experience in areas related to Primary Education, Program Implementation, or other relevant fields. This experience should include direct involvement in educational program delivery, capacity building, and collaboration with educational institutions and government bodies. Familiarity with school feeding programs and the challenges faced in humanitarian contexts will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with local stakeholders, conducting training sessions, and preparing reports. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. The role is specifically open to Bangladeshi Nationals.
