Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough analysis of the current tourism practices in Del Carmen, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for implementing circular economy principles.
Engage with local stakeholders to gather insights and foster collaboration towards sustainable tourism initiatives.
Develop a comprehensive sustainable tourism plan that incorporates circular economy strategies, ensuring it aligns with local and national policies.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions for stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of sustainable tourism practices.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the sustainable tourism plan, providing regular updates and recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to UNDP and other relevant parties.
Ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with UNDP's policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in sustainable tourism, environmental science, or a related field. Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning is essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Familiarity with circular economy concepts and practices is highly desirable, as well as experience in conducting assessments and developing actionable plans.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainable tourism, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Additional certifications in project management or sustainable development are also beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in sustainable tourism planning or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in the Philippines or similar contexts is preferred. Demonstrated success in managing projects from inception to completion, particularly in the area of sustainable development, is crucial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Filipino or other local dialects is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
