The consultant will be responsible for ensuring that the law aligns with the country's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and international climate agreements. This role requires a deep understanding of climate policy, legal frameworks, and the specific environmental challenges faced by Equatorial Guinea. The consultant will work closely with government officials, stakeholders, and the UNDP team to gather input, analyze existing legislation, and propose necessary amendments to enhance the effectiveness of the climate change law. The consultant is expected to deliver a comprehensive report outlining the revisions made and the rationale behind them, ensuring that the updated law is both practical and enforceable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough review of the existing draft climate change law and identify areas that require updates or revisions.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and community representatives, to gather insights and feedback on the draft law.
  • Analyze the implications of the proposed changes in relation to national and international climate commitments.
  • Prepare a detailed report summarizing the findings of the review process, including recommendations for amendments to the draft law.
  • Facilitate workshops or meetings to present the revised draft law and gather further input from stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the updated law incorporates best practices and lessons learned from other countries' climate legislation.
  • Collaborate with the UNDP team to ensure alignment with broader climate initiatives and strategies in Equatorial Guinea.

Required Qualifications:
