Job Overview: The Information Management Officer (IMO) will play a crucial role in supporting the Child Protection Workstream in Mozambique. This position involves managing essential data systems and information products that are vital for strengthening coordination, strategic decision-making, and humanitarian response efforts. The IMO will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, coordinated child protection programs through effective information management and capacity building. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Officer include:
Managing information systems for the Child Protection Workstream, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
Collecting, compiling, and analyzing data related to child protection initiatives, ensuring that information is up-to-date and relevant.
Creating data visualizations and dashboards to present findings and insights to stakeholders effectively.
Innovating and implementing knowledge management strategies to enhance the capacity of the Child Protection Workstream.
Collaborating with partners and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and communication regarding child protection data and initiatives.
Providing training and support to staff and partners on data management tools and practices.
Contributing to the development of reports and presentations that communicate the impact of child protection programs.
Staying informed about best practices in information management and child protection to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the Information Management Officer position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as data science, geographic sciences (GIS), engineering, information technology, statistics, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in information management, particularly within the child protection sector.
Proven work experience with UN agencies or non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Familiarity with sectorial coordination and a solid understanding of the emergency context in Mozambique.
Proficiency in data mapping software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
Experience in producing visualization tools and dashboards using software like Tableau or PowerBI.
Strong knowledge of GIS and database management, along with proficiency in tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign, and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Open Data Kit and mobile data collection is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, which may include data science, geographic information systems (GIS), engineering, information technology, statistics, or a closely related area. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of data management and analysis required for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in information management, specifically within the child protection sphere. Candidates should have a demonstrated history of working with UN agencies or NGOs, as well as experience in sectorial coordination and an understanding of the emergency context in Mozambique. This level of experience is crucial for effectively managing data systems and contributing to child protection initiatives.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders in Mozambique and for the successful implementation of child protection programs.
