Job Overview:
The WPS Analyst position is crucial for supporting UN Women’s mission in Afghanistan, particularly in the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the challenges faced by Afghan women and girls. The role involves engaging with civil society and government counterparts to coordinate and monitor UN Women interventions. The WPS Analyst will work under the guidance of the Country Representative and Deputy Representative, reporting directly to the Head of the WPS Thematic Area. The position requires a proactive approach to advocacy and communications, aimed at amplifying the voices of Afghan women and ensuring their participation in peace processes. The analyst will also be responsible for developing strategies that enhance the visibility and credibility of UN Women’s work in Afghanistan, particularly in relation to the women, peace, and security agenda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The WPS Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies tailored to the needs of the Country Office.
  • Conducting communications needs assessments and contributing to the analysis of strategies that elevate the visibility of UN Women’s work.
  • Drafting and editing high-quality advocacy materials, including factsheets and briefs that highlight the experiences of Afghan women and girls.
  • Coordinating the production of communications products such as web articles, videos, and social media content, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s guidelines.
  • Supporting media relations by responding to inquiries, drafting background notes, and engaging in proactive media activities.
  • Assisting in reporting and knowledge management by collating inputs for corporate and donor reporting, and documenting impact stories.
  • Supporting donor visibility initiatives and identifying potential communications partnerships to enhance outreach.
  • Performing other duties as required to support the communications and advocacy outputs of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the WPS Analyst position should possess a strong understanding of gender issues, particularly in the context of conflict and humanitarian crises. They should demonstrate accountability, adaptability, and effective communication skills. A creative problem-solving approach and the ability to engage stakeholders inclusively are essential. Educational Background:
