Job Overview:
This position involves the design, development, and production of communication and educational materials focused on the protection of the ozone layer, in alignment with the Montreal Protocol. The contractor will be responsible for creating engaging and informative content that raises awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and the actions needed to protect it. The role requires a creative approach to communicate complex scientific information in a way that is accessible and understandable to a broad audience. The contractor will work closely with UNDP to ensure that the materials produced meet the organization's standards and effectively convey the intended messages.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop educational materials that effectively communicate the significance of the ozone layer and the measures necessary for its protection.
  • Collaborate with UNDP staff to gather relevant information and insights that will inform the content of the materials.
  • Create visually appealing graphics, infographics, and other multimedia elements to enhance the educational materials.
  • Ensure that all materials are culturally appropriate and tailored to the target audience.
  • Conduct research on best practices in communication strategies related to environmental issues.
  • Review and revise materials based on feedback from UNDP and other stakeholders.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables to ensure that all materials are completed within the specified 90-day assignment period.
  • Provide updates and reports on progress to UNDP throughout the project duration.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in designing and producing educational and communication materials, particularly in the field of environmental issues.
  • Strong graphic design skills and proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with the Montreal Protocol and issues related to ozone layer protection is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, environmental science, or a related field is required. A master's degree or additional certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communication, graphic design, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred, particularly in projects related to environmental awareness and education.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered a plus, especially if they are relevant to the target audience of the educational materials.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 90 calendar days. This is a full-time position, and the contractor will be expected to work closely with UNDP staff throughout the assignment. The position is open to both national and international candidates. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and benefits may include access to training and development opportunities.
