Job Overview:
The Financial Institutions Division (FLI) is part of the Industries and Cross-Cutting Themes Department and works with financial institutions that share a commitment to sustainable development and financial inclusion. FLI supports the development of climate resilience portfolios, financing for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), financial inclusion, digitalization, social housing, investment in health and education infrastructure, and trade expansion. The Central America, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic Division (RID) is responsible for managing business and client engagement from a country perspective within its member countries. This position involves supporting Team Leaders and project teams in the origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing of high development impact transactions with banks, microfinance, and other non-bank financial institutions. The role also includes supporting project teams throughout the transaction approval process, contributing to financial and risk analysis, participating in due diligence, and preparing project-related presentations and reports as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Financial Analyst/Associate include supporting Team Leaders and project teams in the origination, structuring, negotiation, and closing of high development impact transactions with banks and other financial institutions. The role requires supporting project teams throughout the transaction approval process by coordinating with various internal units, contributing to financial and risk analysis of potential clients, and advising on the financial viability of projects. The analyst will participate in due diligence processes, carry out industry research on the financial sector, negotiate transaction contracts and related legal documents, and prepare project-related presentations, reports, spreadsheets, and memos as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, International Development, or other relevant fields. Candidates should have at least three years of relevant employment experience as a financial analyst/associate or in a similar position at a financial institution, consultancy firm, or similar organization. Expertise in loan structuring and complex transactions, along with a validated track record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products, is desirable. Strong client relationship experience and skills are highly valued.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, International Development, or other relevant fields to qualify for this position.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant employment experience as a financial analyst/associate or in a similar role at a financial institution, consultancy firm, or similar organization. Candidates should have expertise in loan structuring and complex transactions, along with a validated track record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products.

Languages:
Proficiency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written, is required for this position. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization and with external stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a national staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, which is renewable upon mutual agreement. Candidates must be eligible to work in Mexico without the need for sponsorship and must not have family members working at IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouses.
