Job Overview: The National Professional Officer position at the WHO Country Office in Syria is pivotal in enhancing the health sector's capacity to respond to the needs of the population. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations Officer and will be responsible for providing technical input in developing donor reports, proposals, and briefing documents. Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: updating and preparing briefing documents and meeting proposals for donor engagement; maintaining effective relationships with partners at various levels to encourage participation in fundraising initiatives; coordinating with technical teams to organize meetings with government bodies; providing technical input to proposals and reports; drafting official correspondence and ensuring quality and accuracy; collaborating with colleagues to introduce funding opportunities on internal platforms; ensuring timely and accurate reporting within funds tracking tools; coordinating with the communications department to develop donor visibility products; and participating in official conferences and meetings, providing translation support as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong competencies in teamwork, communication, and building partnerships. They should have a solid understanding of working with national authorities and local partners, as well as skills in assessing and analyzing emergency health situations. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and build consensus among diverse stakeholders. The role requires proficiency in MS Office and a commitment to WHO's values and ethical standards.
Educational Background: The essential educational requirement for this position is a university degree (bachelor's) in social sciences, public health, international relations, political sciences, communications, marketing, management, economics, accounting, financial management, business, or public administration. A master's degree in social science, public health, or business administration is desirable and would enhance a candidate's qualifications.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience in report writing, drafting correspondence, resource mobilization, or related areas. Experience working with local authorities, UN organizations, or NGOs is considered desirable and would provide valuable context for the role.
