Job Overview: The position involves the establishment and operation of a training program focused on artisanal jewellery and metalwork in the Ajloun and Irbid Governorates of Jordan. The primary function of this role is to develop a comprehensive training curriculum that caters to local artisans and aspiring craftsmen, enhancing their skills in jewellery making and metalwork. The program aims to empower local communities by providing them with the necessary skills to create high-quality artisanal products, which can contribute to their economic development. The individual in this role will be expected to collaborate with local stakeholders, including artisans, community leaders, and government entities, to ensure the training program is relevant and effective. Additionally, the position requires monitoring and evaluation of the training outcomes to assess the impact on participants and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a detailed training curriculum for artisanal jewellery and metalwork that meets the needs of local artisans.
Collaborate with local artisans and experts to incorporate traditional techniques and modern practices into the training program.
Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and hands-on practice for participants.
Establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations to support the training initiative and promote the products created by participants.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training program, collecting feedback from participants and stakeholders to make necessary adjustments.
Prepare reports on training outcomes, participant progress, and overall program impact for UNDP and other stakeholders.
Ensure that all training materials and resources are available and accessible to participants.
Promote the training program through community outreach and engagement activities.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in developing and implementing training programs, particularly in artisanal crafts or related fields.
Strong understanding of the artisanal jewellery and metalwork industry, including current trends and market demands.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in project management, including planning, execution, and evaluation of training initiatives.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as arts, crafts, education, or social sciences is required. A master's degree or equivalent experience in community development, vocational training, or a related area is preferred. Additional certifications in training methodologies or artisanal crafts would be advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in vocational training, community development, or a related field is required. Experience working with artisanal communities and knowledge of local cultural practices in Jordan is highly desirable. Previous experience with UNDP or similar international organizations is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, as the training will be conducted in Arabic. Proficiency in English is also required for reporting and communication with UNDP and international stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region would be beneficial.
Additional Notes: The position is for a contract duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. This role is considered a full-time position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP standards.
