Job Posting Organization:
The FAO Representation Office in Armenia operates under the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU). Its mission is to lead FAO's response to regional priorities concerning security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, agriculture, and rural development. The organization focuses on identifying, planning, and implementing priority activities in Armenia, working closely with the government to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to programs. The FAO Representation in Armenia plays a crucial role in facilitating policy dialogue on food security and agricultural issues, fostering regional partnerships, and enhancing capacity development and resource mobilization for sustainable agricultural practices.

Job Overview:
The Programme Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the effective implementation of the Joint Programme (JP) titled 'Unlocking Sustainable Finance for Nutrition-Sensitive, Climate-Smart Food Systems Transformation in Armenia.' This initiative aims to catalyze systemic transformation of Armenia’s food system through four interlinked pathways: climate-resilient seed systems, sustainable dairy value chains, agri-SME financing mechanisms, and consumer behavior awareness for healthy diets. The Programme Assistant will work under the supervision of the FAO Representative in Armenia and the National Project Coordinator (Agrifood systems), performing a range of administrative, logistical, and operational tasks to support the day-to-day activities of the country office projects. This position requires a proactive approach to project management and a commitment to achieving the goals of the Joint Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties including but not limited to: supporting and following up on assigned tasks throughout the project cycle from inception to closure; providing assistance to the National Project Coordinator in managing daily project activities; organizing missions, meetings, workshops, trainings, and study tours; preparing minutes for JP coordination meetings; monitoring project budgets and preparing requests and revisions; ensuring timely submission of financial reports and calls for funds; checking budget availability and maintaining tools for project budget tracking; drafting financial reports for FAO; supporting procurement planning and ensuring timely delivery of project goods and services; consolidating team inputs for narrative reports; maintaining project documentation for reporting; developing and reviewing Terms of Reference for affiliate workforce; and ensuring compliance with FAO procedures and contractual obligations. The role may also involve travel and performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in Programme Support, Operations, Finance, or a similar area is required. A working knowledge of both Armenian and English languages is essential, and candidates must be nationals of Armenia. The FAO Core Competencies expected from candidates include a strong results focus, teamwork, effective communication, building relationships, and a commitment to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Technical and functional skills required for this position include proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet usage, and familiarity with office technology equipment, along with good communication and writing skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration or Finance. It is important that the degree is obtained from an institution that is accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), which is maintained by the International Association of Universities (IAU) and UNESCO. This ensures that the educational qualifications meet the standards set by FAO for employment.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in Programme Support, Operations, Finance, or a similar area. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage project activities effectively and contribute to the successful implementation of programs. Familiarity with the specific challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector in Armenia will be an advantage.

Languages:
The mandatory languages for this position are Armenian and English. Candidates must have a working knowledge of both languages to effectively communicate and perform their duties. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
