Job Overview:
The Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist will play a crucial role in UNICEF Senegal by coordinating the development and implementation of a partnership strategy that engages both public and private sectors. This position is vital for enhancing UNICEF's advocacy efforts and resource mobilization initiatives, ensuring that children's issues remain at the forefront of national dialogue and public policy. The Specialist will work closely with the Chief of Partnerships, Advocacy and Communications to deepen partnerships with donors and support the overall resource mobilization strategy. This includes quality assurance of donor reporting, proposal development, and writing/editing fundraising briefs. The Specialist will also be responsible for monitoring financing levels and resource needs, ensuring that UNICEF's objectives for children are met through effective partnerships and resource mobilization efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Resource Mobilization: Collaborate with the Chief of section to refine the resource mobilization strategy and develop action plans. Contribute to the creation and review of project documents, concept notes, and advocacy strategies. Ensure compliance with UNICEF's Standard Operating Procedures during the proposal and review process. Develop systems to monitor financing levels and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Partnership Development: Identify opportunities and risks in the external environment, ensuring compliance with UNICEF procedures. Organize and document meetings with donors and partners, increasing internal and external engagement to enhance UNICEF's visibility and influence.
  • Donor Reporting: Coordinate timely submission of quality donor reports, ensuring compliance with UNICEF standards. Build capacity among program staff for donor reporting and strengthen grant management practices.
  • Innovative Fundraising: Support the development of innovative fundraising initiatives linked to public-private partnerships and individual giving. Analyze trends among partners and formulate strategic recommendations.
  • Donor Engagement: Develop and implement donor recognition and visibility plans, collaborating with the communication team to create fundraising materials and reports. The Specialist may also supervise a national UNV position focused on private sector partnerships.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a proven ability to develop and implement effective resource mobilization strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building partnerships and engaging with diverse stakeholders. The candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, particularly in promoting children's rights and equity.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in resource mobilization, partnerships, or related fields, preferably within an international organization or NGO. Experience in donor engagement and reporting, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's mission and operations, will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory, as these are the primary languages of communication within UNICEF Senegal. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset.
