Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) was established to provide support primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces. The organization is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS) and operates within the framework of security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Council resolution 2793 (2025). UNSOH aims to enhance security and stability in Haiti through collaborative efforts with local and international partners.

Job Overview:
The Administrative Assistant position is a temporary role located in Santo Domingo, within the Office of the Director, Mission Support. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all administrative matters related to the section/office, including human resources management, budget and finance management, and providing general administrative support to the staff. This role requires effective coordination with various stakeholders and adherence to UN rules and procedures. The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Director of Mission Support and will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office's administrative functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating human resources activities such as recruitment, placement, and performance appraisal; maintaining records of vacancy announcements and performance evaluations; advising staff on visa matters and conditions of service; assisting in budget preparation and monitoring; collecting data for financial reports; reviewing budget proposals; ensuring compliance with regulations; providing guidance and training to other staff; drafting agreements; resolving administrative issues; and coordinating with service units and internal team members. The role also involves monitoring staffing tables and assisting in the preparation of year-end budget performance reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, as well as the ability to interpret and apply them effectively. Strong analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential. The candidate should demonstrate professionalism, commitment to gender equality, and effective communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to adapt to changing priorities is also required.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additionally, a technical or vocational certificate in administrative services, finance, human resources, business administration, or personnel management is desirable, indicating a foundational understanding of the administrative functions relevant to the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least eight years of progressively responsible experience in administrative services, finance, human resources, or related fields, preferably within the United Nations system or the private sector. Experience in developing and implementing planning documents, as well as working in UN peacekeeping operations in a post-conflict environment, is required. Proficiency in using ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems is also essential for this role.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in English and Spanish is required, with a minimum level of UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both languages. This requirement ensures effective communication within the diverse linguistic environment of the UN.
