Job Overview:
The position involves providing specialized services in layout design for the creation or adaptation of UNICEF's editorial materials. Selected candidates will join a roster and may be called upon for specific tasks based on work orders with precise technical specifications. The consultant will coordinate with the Communications area and UNICEF Program Officers or Specialists to agree on product parameters. They will analyze assigned documents to ensure understanding of purpose, target audience, and required formality level. The consultant will layout each product according to specific requirements, ensuring clarity, fluency, coherence, and consistency with UNICEF guidelines. All documents must be generated in high resolution for appropriate adaptation to large formats, and the consultant is responsible for delivering the final products within the established deadlines, making necessary adjustments to meet UNICEF's quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized layout services for UNICEF editorial materials.
  • Coordinate with the Communications area and UNICEF Program Officers to establish product parameters.
  • Analyze assigned documents to understand their purpose, target audience, and required formality.
  • Layout products according to specific requirements, ensuring clarity and consistency with UNICEF guidelines.
  • Generate high-resolution documents for large format adaptation.
  • Deliver documents within established deadlines for UNICEF review.
  • Make necessary adjustments to meet quality standards.
  • Ensure all materials are delivered in both print-ready and digital formats, including editable files.
  • Maintain ownership of all layout materials as property of UNICEF, with credit given to the graphic artist responsible for the project. 1
  • Follow UNICEF's Basic Commitments for Children and ensure activities prevent abuse and sexual exploitation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Specialized training in Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Visual Communication, Visual Arts, Advertising, or related fields. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in layout design and/or visual communication. Previous experience with international organizations, UN agencies, or the social sector is valued.
  • Ability to create visually appealing proposals with a creative, inclusive, and results-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in layout software, preferably Adobe Suite.
  • Basic writing and spelling skills.
  • Experience in producing final artwork and understanding color nomenclature for print material preparation.
  • Effective time management and strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to receive feedback and adjust work according to requirements.
  • Attention to detail and high-quality standards.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have specialized training in Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Visual Communication, Visual Arts, Advertising, or related fields. A Bachelor's degree is preferred, and relevant certifications or additional training in design software will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in layout design and/or visual communication. Experience with international organizations, UN agencies, or the social sector will be highly valued, as it demonstrates familiarity with the standards and expectations of such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish (written, spoken, and read) is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.

Additional Notes:
The position is remote, and candidates will use their own tools and resources. Participation in this roster does not guarantee selection for a contract with UNICEF. The roster is valid for a maximum of 36 months after the process concludes and participants are notified. Being selected for the roster does not imply a binding agreement unless a contract is formalized later with defined products under specific Terms of Reference (TdR). Selected candidates must ensure compliance with local tax obligations and maintain valid health insurance throughout the contract period. Candidates are also required to confirm full vaccination status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a WHO-approved vaccine, although this does not apply to remote consultants.
