Job Overview: The Driver position at FHI 360 is crucial for supporting the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project in Zambia. The primary responsibility of the driver is to operate the project vehicle safely and efficiently, ensuring the timely transportation of clients and project staff to various destinations. This role requires not only driving skills but also a commitment to maintaining the vehicle in excellent condition, which includes regular cleaning and maintenance. The driver will assist passengers with entry and exit from the vehicle and ensure that all safety protocols are followed during transportation. This position is integral to the smooth operation of the project, as it directly impacts the mobility and effectiveness of the team in carrying out their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Driver include: transporting Country Office staff, consultants, and visitors to designated locations; ensuring the safety, cleanliness, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and maintenance of the vehicle; performing day-to-day maintenance tasks such as timely oil changes and inspections; making arrangements for major repairs when necessary; ensuring all vehicle documentation is current and in order; planning routes based on schedules or ad-hoc requests; ensuring passengers adhere to road safety regulations; fulfilling special requests such as picking up and delivering items; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. The driver must also be prepared to provide protection for clients in high-risk locations and must be able to identify and report any issues that arise during their duties.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driving license and a clean driving record. A trade test certificate is also required. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to providing excellent service and maintaining a professional demeanor while interacting with clients and staff.
Educational Background: A High School Diploma or GED is required for this position. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered. The educational background should include knowledge of vehicle operation and maintenance, as well as basic safety regulations related to driving.
